......while Screaming A Smith think we should pursue De'arron Fox. This hilarious exchange has Magic humbling Steven A, with that age old skill that Smith never had, Basketball IQ, 😆.
Anyway thoughts on the video and more importantly would you pursue Lonzo via trade now so you dont get outbid later via restricted free agency by getting bird rights? Or wait and chance to bid for him in restricted free agency against the Pels and others with cap room to?
Personally I'd see if Frank, Payton and either Dallas top protected 2023 pick would do it and get back Ball and Redick or trade Frank/Payton(he's from Louisiana and also played there too) and 2 seconds for Ball and Redick and see if they bite.
Honestly I feel we need a better point guard NOW to maximize whatever run Thibs wants to make.

So yay or nay on a pursuit of Ball via trade, via restricted free agency, or not at all??

Id give them a #1 and Frank or Obi. I think Ball is an elite defender, great passer and his shot has come a long way. We strike out with most our #1's anyway, at least he is a proven commodity.

I would say the top ten protected Dallas one in 2023 would suffice or some future year that won't matter right now. Not this year's. And then Knox

I think Knox is a better player, I’d let OBI go. I think Kenny Sky Walker had more bball instincts than what I’ve seen from OBI.

The wrinkle is New Orleans wants to include Eric Bledsoe and his 45 million dollars through the 2023 season.
I don't want Eric Bledsoe and finding a trade partner will cost the Knicks some draft collateral.
I'd pay through the nose for Brandon Ingram though. Ball is a more realistic trade target but Ingram puts the Knicks into serious playoff contention right now. But it would cost the Knicks dearly and by dearly I mean Mitchell Robinson, either Obi or Kevin AND two future partially protected first round draft choices plus some second rounders the Knicks have been accumulating. I'm not even remotely sure the Pelicans hang up the phone on Leon when he asks about Ingram. So let's go back to Ball.
The prevailing opinion is Ball elevates our existing offense simply by getting them better shots. Of course he is better in an uptempo offense and the Knicks offense is anything but uptempo. He's a decent enough penetrate and dish PG but his defense has been wanting this past year. Under Thibs I imagine it gets better. IMHO the improved shooting metrics are sustainable but I still see two major issues.
Does New Orleans stick to their guns about Bledsoe? Does Papa Ball come as part of the package? I really am less enthused about this potential trade than most of my brothers and Magic Johnson. As always I could be wrong but right now I'd rather try and steal Ball in the summer if indeed the Knicks braintrust is convinced he is the answer at PG. Right now I hope the Knicks stay with their present team. It was announced the Knicks don't want to mess with their excellent team chemistry. I agree wholeheartedly.

I like Lonzo. He's exceedingly smart and is a good defender that matches up well with IQ. But he does have two flaws that worry me. Im not impressed with his drive and kick game. During this era that is almost mandatory. Second he seems very quiet and I prefer a more verbal leader at PG. Now a Clyde was quiet so that isnt a deal breaker but it is a concern. He may want 4yr / 80 mil.

Not at all saying one player is the other but that was what Starks and Ewing and LJ and Oakley were for. In this case, Randle and Taj and Rose are for. And if it's 4 year 20 mil that is a bargain for what he could command so I would give it to him. All the best free agents would otherwise have resigned by then so we could be keeping this cap space for nothing, free agency or for trades. Thibs is so stubborn that having Knox and Obi not play here is a waste. So turning them and our capspace for usable assets is what I'd do. I think the only player I can't stand on our team right now is Payton. He just doesn't fit and I'm being kind obviously. Lol

Lol I hear you. i dont understand why at least one of them cant get some Randle minutes in a blowout. I like Efrid, especially compared to Frankiiii. I like Elfrid the bricklayer. Love him compared to Frances. now I like
