... The ASG was the ultimate waste of time. Forget the moves and defenses and drives and dunks---- its all about the Three point shot. In this game you cross the half court line and gather to launch a 3 point attempt, In total 133 out of the 221 were three pointers- over 60%.
Either make it tougher to get, or make it only available during the last quarter of the game (comeback) , or something to stir the 'watching juices'. Until then I am off all basketball ASGs.

With all due respect the all-star game is for the fans, especially the younger ones. Just like when I was a kid and the older players then complained about things when I watched Ewing and Hakeem playing in theirs. The next generation whatever these days will never appeal to the older generation. I never was into the actual game but the events surrounding the allstar game anyway. I'm just glad a Knick or a group of them were featured some. Obi got robbed too btw in the dunk contest.

I like the other things like the 3 point contest , dunk and skills -lots different. But as to the threes its ironic . I am built more like a linebacker with strength in shoulders, abs and legs. So I could hit the "three pointer" in practice but it wasn't around in games then. I couldn't dunk so I admired it. I could hit from 'threes distance' so I didn't admire it.
I also could rebound toughly and it nearly got me crowned. I played pick up Bball 4 days before my wedding and got conked by an elbow in my eyelid.... puff goes the magic dragon on the eyelid. It came down but the makeup over it is still there in wedding pictures. Shows a split dedication, I guess.

While I agree the three ball is everywhere, once they took away hand checking in the 90s, it was all downhill from there. Things I care about are flopping which should be automatic techs. But the problem is then the game wouldn't speed up, because alot of the marquee players like Lebron, Jimmy Butler and James Harden do it. Then they'd be at risk to be thrown out if they got a second one. Flopping and the lack of a second challenge if the first one was successful are my two current issues. That and the usually swallowed whistles when certain refs, ref our games and Randle and RJ are getting bludgeoned in the paint.

A lot of fans, particularly older ones feel there are far too many threes taken. I dont like all the threes but the proliferation does open up the floor, even giving more space to bigs like Embiid. I would like to see a pre season experiment and a full season g league experiment. Extend the 23ft 9 in. line all over the court instead of 22 ft in the corners. this would effectively eliminate corner threes. Wont happen but I'd be curious how the game was effected.
