Seems to be STRONG rumors from Shams and Ian Begley the Knicks are in talks with Detroit for Derrick Rose. Personally after he no showed when he was here before I thought that love affair ended.
And unless he's traded for Payton who has a one year deal no trade clause, it doesn't make sense especially because it would hinder Quickley even more.
Thoughts??

Ian Begley doesn’t think he’ll take minutes from IQ, I guess he’s assuming it will be Payton and Rivers. I share the same fear you’re sharing though, Jason, that it will hurt IQ. We all know Rose is a Thibs favorite. Rumors have it that Frank will be traded for him. I mean Rose for Frank is a massive upgrade, don’t see how you can turn it down. Funny that it might happen after Elf finally plays two great games but I think it’s not surprising that Elf had a great game taking it to the basket against a team that has Enes Kanter at center. I’d definitely try to throw Payton into the deal, don’t see why he would invoke his NTC if the Knicks tell him Rose will take his minutes. I guess the bright side is that I won’t be tempted to break my TV when I see Rose come in for Quickley like I do when Payton does. Did you see in the fourth quarter yesterday with the Knicks up five IQ hit a long three over Melo and then stole the ball and fed Bullock ahead of the field for a layup that put them up ten and then was immediately pulled? WTF? And when Thibs was asked about it he said he pulled him because he was being double teamed? I mean if he’s being double teamed isn’t that good because somebody’s open? So again I ask WTF?

I also almost broke my phone when IQ subbed out. But I did notice that Dame was checking in. I believe that Thibs also figured that only Dame could best him yesterday and wanted to have his better defender on him.
I don't think I do the trade. And we know how much I love Frank - NOT. Rose is an upgrade over Payton on a non scoring team. And this would mean they are really going for the playoffs. But I love IQ in his current role with his current minutes. Now if they made the trade and also did trade Payton for a pick, I'd likely be ok.

Rose is a career 30% shooter beyond the arc. True the Knicks need scoring but a 32 year old guard on a minutes restriction and a liability on defense and on the perimeter doesn’t help the team especially if it impacts IQ and Rose.
Need more scoring? Play IQ more minutes.

Well at least we have a real starting PG now. Oni looked good today when people actually looked for him. Payton is trash, and would be great to see if we can get something for Bullock, Burke and Rivers.

Rose to NYK? Why? Let me give it a try.
Quickley came into the league as a SG, not a PG. In fact he is better at shooting than passing. The latter is what a less than stellar team needs to excel. Rose is that person. He can get to the basket and he is also a decent floor general. Ride him when he's hot and rest him when he's not.
Use Rose backed by Payton et al and it’s a decent 2 deep position. As to Quickley he is insurance at PG or replaces some of the time that is being spent at SG on Burks and others. And Rose is a guy who can mentor the younger guards.

Hopefully Rose doesn't quit on us again,I assume Tibs here might totally change his attitude and his maturity might help matters.IQ will not be denied minutes ,I'm not worried about that,we do have to move Rivers IMO.
