Thibs had a tough decision against the Thunder. He didn't play Mitch down the stretch. Do you play more offense to stretch the floor and provide more space. Or do you play a rim protector to aid the defense and ACTUALLY protect the Rim. Thibs chose offense and I could see why. We couldnt shoot. Another shooter might help. BUT without a rim protector the Thunder ran a lay up lune in the 4th. Part of excellent coaching is hitting those types of dicisions. Thibs MAY have regretted that one. Thibs has hit a ton right. But no one hits 100%. I'd bet after Bosh got that big offensive rebound in game six against SA, that Pop might second guess himself for pulling Duncan.

What you said about Thibs reasoning is correct, but it was also mentioned that Mitch was a bit under the weather. The poor shooting will be a problem all year, I’m afraid. Need to see much more of Rivers and Quickly at the point and I think they’re heading that way as you see Randle bringing up the ball more and more. They may be deciding that they’re better off playing two shooting guards instead of a point guard that can’t put the ball in the basket. Randle is finally doing an outstanding job of finding the open shooter when he’s doubled, and the reward is often that player firing up a brick. Payton’s lack of shooting ability is magnified because RJ isn’t shooting well either.
