Ex Knicks coach and hall of fame NBA star has died at age 70 of brain cancer. Paul was a great player and although he wasn’t a very good coach for the Knicks, I remember him refusing to take any shit from the lousy players they had at the time, so good for him. RIP Paul.

At times I ran into him as a player for USC and later when he had a son playing Bball in summer league games.
We had some times to talk basketball between games and he was a totally unpretentious, open and respectable man. Not a look-at-me 'I'm an all star guy' at all. One time his son's game was delayed as the opponents bus was late. He asked If I knew what was going on and I said they are late and will likely be docked 10 points because of it causing in a shortened game. His sons team benefitted from that but his first words were 'that's unfair to those kids'.
I always liked and admired him and we lost a really good man recently in him RIP.
