I was hoping for a big signing of a former Kentucky player and I was right. Sort of... the Knicks signed a player I like, Michael Kidd-Gilgrist (MKG) making 5 former Kentucky players on the Knicks roster.
Julius Randle Kevin Knox Nerlins Noel Immanuel Quickley MKG
I guess if and when fans return to MSG they might start serving Mint Juleps. ššš

Lets pray Coach can mold these players into winners, doing the little things that don't show up on the stat sheet. If not then boy oh boy that's lots of scrubbiness and overrated-ness on that list.
As to Coppin, can someone tell me-- he's being compared to Stoudemire-- does that mean he is a great roller and finisher off pick and roll? Hows his midrange shot? Does he finish it high up with more extended elbow and a wrist flip like Garnett?

I know you donāt actually watch games but you can manage highlights, canāt you? If that is too much for you the short answer is the kid, TOPPIN, can play and he has all the offensive tools to go with his extreme athleticism. He can shoot midrange and he can hit treys. He has a good handle and obviously he plays above the rim. Happy? Is he like Stoudemire? I donāt know but he certainly shoots better coming into the League than Stats. Kentucky players are winners and guys like Noel and Kidd-Gilcrist are known for their defensive ability. That should appeal to you.

I need to see more OBI as I can't believe he has STAT's quickness. I can't remember a big that was quicker.

Gonna be honest, although I think the Knicks had a respectable offseason, I canāt be a hypocrite here. Two years ago the Mets hired an agent to run their team and he brought in all his old clients and I said it would be a disaster and it was a disaster. Then when the Knicks hired Rose I was hoping heād be smart enough to avoid doing that, yet here we are. All Kentucky players with the Calipari connection and all CAA clients. MKG had both working for him! Only difference is at least none of them were signed to stupid contracts. That being said, Knicks havenāt played a single game yet so hopefully it will all work out.

Not gonna watch youtube unless it's an actual game and not merely highlights. Don't trust posts based on youtube videos/highlights compilations. That's blind men giving an account of an elephant. Can't use the eye test unless it's an actual game and you can get a feel for a player, including floor impact, and can analyze his game. You're saying you can, so color me impressed. What a blessing! I watch games so long as they're relevant, with good coaching, and I see gelling and development. That means pre-season through the first 25-30 games. If they are of the Fizdale shyte-show variety I cannot be bothered. Ugly basketball and stupid players can make the game unwatchable, and I'm not a masochist. To some this makes me a fair-weather fan. Me? I'd rather go hungry than lap up the slop I have been served by Dolan and his crew for 95% of the last 20 seasons. Maybe it's time you stop using that "since you don't watch the games" canard, as though this somehow weakens or delegitimizes my contributions. "Kentucky players are winners." Fascinating.

Couldn't miss the opportunity to bring up a guy who had no hand in what has happened in the last two weeks of Knicks transactions in Dolan, could you? There are whole games on YouTube so don't be afraid to do your whole search. We can't go back in time so you can see real games in real time. To answer a previous question. He is excellent in pick and roll, his mid range is in top form and he can hit the three in stride. He was named AP player of the year for a reason.

To be fair Knox and Randle were the decisions of the previous administration and Noel and MKG are noted defenders which factors in with Thibodeauās philosophy more than their connection to Rose and CAA. Who knows, the CAA connection may have helped the Knicks get both for a reasonable price and only one year guaranteed. An agent would have locked them into a longer, more lucrative contract.
That leaves Quickley. He was a surprise selection but he also was the SEC POY and he plays both guard positions plus he can shoot and defend. Was Calipari whispering in Roseās ear? Maybe but I think Quickley could be a draft day steal when all is said and done.

Maybe it's time you stop using that "since you don't watch the games" canard, as though this somehow weakens or delegitimizes my contributions. "Kentucky players are winners." Fascinating. Last first.
Kentucky is a basketball centric program. They have the best facilities, the best amenities and a culture few can match. The players are winners because they play for an epic program built on winning. Note how many Kentucky players have blown up into stars in the NBA because they left the team first constraints of Kentucky.
Now onto the more important matter. The ācanardā as you describe it of always factoring in your unique version of fandom which is NOT watching games is always going to be central to any discussion with you. You speak haughtily of not watching any basketball that isnāt relevant. So basically you havenāt watched any Knicks basketball in 6 or so years which makes almost all of your āobservationsā about the actual team irrelevant.
You are not invested in the Knicks. Maybe you arenāt invested in basketball because you constantly whine about a style of basket that no longer exists. You donāt watch video on players? You donāt put in the work that others do of watching these players actually play the game? Amazing. How do you think players get drafted? How do you think coaches prepare for games and evaluate players? They watch videos. I have poked fun at the highlights of players on YouTube not missing shots or making mistakes but the fact is you see what they can do and thatās the point. I see a video of nothing but dunks and I question that players ability to shoot jump shots. That is what happened to POY Obi Toppin. The first videos I found on him showed nothing but dunk shots but I dug deeper and found video of a more well rounded Obi Toppin. Based on that video I am well satisfied with the pick even though I personally wanted Tyrese Halliburton. On the other hand you donāt watch a player and still feel compelled to comment on him.
Interesting.
Obi is not Stat. Stat was unique and also just out of high school and nowhere near as polished as Obi. Stat also had Steve Nash as his PG.
