Just a thought.
We need a PG.
Charlotte has three including Lamelo Ball.
Meanwhile Charlotte wants to trade Nic Batun as part of a sign and trade with Boston for Gordon Heyward.
We have room in our cap. See where I’m going? 😎
The Knicks could certainly absorb Batun’s contract for Devontae Graham and maybe a future draft pick. I’m sure Leon Rose would be amenable to this trade especially since Batun is in the last year of his historically bad contract.
Discuss. 😎

Charlotte jumped the gun trying to do this deal and I dont want really any part of Nic Batum, Graham or not. It's a nice idea in theory, but we have 4 point guards now in Smith Jr, Payton, Harper and Frank who most of the time will play there. You also have Quickley who needs minutes and while a combo mostly played the 1 too in Kentucky(his words). Then you also have Rivers who mostly played there off the bench behind Westbrook who will bring up the ball sometimes whether he's in the game as a 1 or 2. We only have 18 mil in cap room. What exactly would we send out that would allow them to give us a 1st round pick, while not getting rid of any of our young core in the process?

We could easily make cap room by moving Smith and maybe Jacob Evans. The details aren’t important. A young PG with upside is important.

After further inspection since he's an expiring, let's do it. Apparently we haven't officially resigned(ink to paper) Payton yet according to some digging, so do this and ask for an unprotected 1st from Charlotte. It's only us and OKC that have the space. OKC has a full trade exception from the CP3 deal and they will ask for 10 to the 8th power of picks where as we want a Graham or an unprotected 1st for Batum and we send Dennis Jr. Final offer.

Exactly! The Graham kid is very good. He’s still just 25 years old and not making a lot of money now. His shooting % needs work but offensively he didn’t have a lot of help from his teammates and he forced a lot of shots. I really liked him and this trade could save Charlotte a boatload of money.
Of course if our new coaching staff believes they can do something with Payton, DSJ, Frank, Harper or Quickley then don’t do a thing and be patient. Come the trade deadline theKnicks can make better informed decisions about their needs.

I don't like helping Boston at all.

I don't like helping Boston at all. We are actually helping Charlotte way more than Boston. Boston loses a pretty good player which helps us. In the future. 😎

The Knicks are certainly exploring this right now, which is why the Payton signing hasn’t been made official yet. I think they’re willing to move the first round pick, but they want it protected. No way they offer an unprotected pick. We might be setting our hopes too high with Graham, if we ask too much they’ll do the waive and stretch.

27 million is alot to eat for a pick, they would have to give us 2021 and 2023 first you can protect 2021 top five and you also take Randle to make it work for you.You help Boston because they get to keep that cap space amount open.Jordan is a very bad owner with dealings he might bite and do that.He can justify it by getting Haywood and Randle there.
