What would you guys think if the Knicks signed outright Heyward if he opts out of his deal(BIG IF because that opt out is for 34 mil yikes) and traded reasonable assets for Westbrook(Randle, DSJR, one of the Dallas picks?)
Wed then have a lineup of Westbrook, RJ, Heyward, Toppin and Mitch.
Would that make any noise in the playoffs??
I ask this because apparently Rose is interested in Heyward.

No sooner do I write that and this happens. Wow first Harden turns down a 50 mil contract extension, the first of its kind in history and now Hayward turns down 34 mil.
Stay tuned:

Heyward would be a great fit for us. He wound up a poor fit in Boston because of the development of Tatum and Brown. But with us, he would create space for RJ and would be great on the pick and roll with Mitch. Heyward alone would be great. Then Frank can be the Charlie Ward/Chris Childs type PG that is his destiny without the pressure of needing to lead the team. Add Heyward to this team and we are a playoff team. IMHO, Heyward is a great fit.
Now, while adding Westbrook with Heyward makes us a contender for the ECF, I do not think that he can take a team to the Finals because he chokes. He plays hero ball and a well-coached team like Miami or Boston would force Russ into mistakes. I would rather just get Heyward which gets us back to the playoffs and build more naturally.

And I'm honored to be in your presence. When I heard about Hayward opting out I immediately thought of him Westbrook and out 3 amigos. As mentioned earlier, not the biggest fan of Westbrook to NY; but Westbrook and Hayward - that is very very different.

The Utah connection might be a done deal behind doors that's why he opted out.Love sticking to celtics too they lose all that cap space or we can trade with them for that cap space and they can give us their one next year the irony.

Yes just Heyward alone is really the perfect move for Rose to make. Heyward is not only a decent defender but man he is an underrated playmaker and glue guy. And he is a great shooter who can spread the floor. Icing on the cake is he is a great culture guy and if allowed to lead he will help our drafted players mature as professionals. This would be a very very encouraging sign that Rose and his advisors have a proper sense of what they're doing. NO to Westbrook.

Westbrook takes away touches and usage from Hayward who is a deft playmaker in his own right, driving down Hayward's floor impact. And because Westbrook is a terrible outside shooter he just clogs the floor because his defender will sag off to challenge drivers and rollers. With my luck they'll acquire both and I will be a frustrated Knicks fan yet again, yelling at Westbrook's idiocies.

I see you didn't comment whatsoever about the masterful draft and draft pick allocation plus the purge of Mills useless cannon fodder he signed last summer. You would be a frustrated ONLY and EXCLUSIVELY if we traded for Westbrook but did other thing like signed Hayward and saved money in other deals?

Impressive. I feel Griffin will want something we might not be wanting to give. Like Mitch. Mitch is from Nawlins and that would most likely be the price if I was Griffin. Doesn't hurt to ask but I'd be a little shook at the asking price.
