Possible package deal to go higher in the draft? Toppin? Ball?

We got the draft rights to Ante Tomic as well in this deal. A 33 year old Euro player. I wonder what the deal is with this guy.

So now the games begin!
All the emphasis is on Brooklyn and Harden and now it seems like the Knicks are no longer in the Westbrook discussion so their emphasis seems to be on the draft. This should be revealing as to what kind of executive Leon Rose is whether he hides his cards or plays them openly.
I can’t think of any reason to trade 2 picks for a #23 unless you plan on packaging that #23 with the #8 to go higher in the draft. And who is the target if this possibility comes true? Ball seems to be the obvious choice but so does Toppin. How about Avdija? Or Okongwu? I doubt it’s Okoro who should be available at #8 but maybe that is the plan. Go for Okoro, who fits better with what Thibodeau wants than Toppin with his defensive issues and maybe there is somebody the Knicks want that should be available at #23. I know Kira Lewis won’t be there. Nor will Cole Anthony. Josh Green? An Uber athletic wing with range out of Arizona. Maybe somebody like Tyrese Maxes, RJ Hampton or Aaron Nesmith is the target.
This is the fun part of the draft which is why Draft Day is like Christmas to me.

Good trade. Doubt 8 and 23 can get you higher than 6th. But maybe 23 and something else can get you aay 16 to 19. Or there are a couple players they like in the mid twenties range. Two draft picks is plenty.

Two guys that are shown by the NY POST in describing this move earlier are PGs Tyrell Terry of Stanford and Payton Prichard of Oregon. I can say that either would be a good move at #23 IMO having seen both. Here is my brief description of them in an earlier post.
Tyrell Terry PG - Pro Ready (PR) 92 2PT FG-47%,3Pt FG-41%, FT-89%, Rb 4.5- Ast 3.2- Stl 1.4-Blk 0.1, 14.6 ppg. I like this kid a lot. He is a little thin but shows great potential. He is a reach at pick 8 but gone by the Knick's second pick in the first round.
Payton Pritchard PG - PR 89. 2PT FG-51%,3Pt FG-42%, FT-.82%, Rb 4.3- Ast 5.5- Stl 1.5-Blk 0, 21 ppg. He is one of my favorite PGs in P12. He isn't a speedster but a steady and smart player with a good all around game and long 3 pointer capability. He's a 4 year player and that seems to work against his evaluation. But he has been compared by one evaluator to TJ McConnell- not a bad thing to be. Look at those all round numbers again. He led the PAC12 in both points scored and assists and has moved up the ladder recently.

Like 18-19. I hear the Nets want him or Desmond Bane. So anything to spoil their draft party I'd love it. But I digress Tyrell Terry has Trae Young vibes. Excellent playmaker who has to get better on defense but his IQ is way high.

Two draft picks is plenty. The Knicks have a wildcard to enhance any trade discussion. The picks we got from Dallas in the Porzingis trade. It’s true #8 and #23 don’t get you much higher than #6 UNLESS that is the pick you want to get Halliburton. But throw in that future first round pick from the Mavs and any pick becomes possible though I can’t imagine the Warriors dealing #2 unless they get Mitch in return.
It’s going to be an interesting day.

I was telling my kid last night we need to move to around 23 ahead of a few teams that were going to take our next point guard which we now can take,so let me recap my thinking at 8th I take Okoro and if he's gone Vasell and now at 23 I can get my point guard of the future in Malachi Flynn,he was going to get picked before 27th so It's a great move if he manages to get picked we get Payton Pritchard as our backup plan but we are getting our point with 23rd we just locked that in.Studying the draft I am happy the KNicks are thinking the same way I am it's a good feeling really we have smart people running the draft. We just got ahead of Boston who was going to screw us right before our pick..We need to flip DSJ for a high two now too.

Three teams that wanted points at 24,25,and 26 all wanted points because they are moving their points or need a backup point we just leaped ahead of those three securing our future point pick in Flynn or Pritchard.I am so happy now we are getting two of my guys in Okoro or Vasell or Flynn or Pritchard we are going to have a great day tonight, now let's flip randle and or DSJ for more picks. All these guys have a high floor their is no way their bust ,they also have alot of upside. All great working kids who will grind to get better and high IQ and great defense.

It’s going to be an interesting day. If we trade Mitch for a top 2 pick then we aren't draft Melo, we'd be drafting Wiseman. I'd be sad because Mitch is cheap, a known quantity, loves it here and I'd want Ball more.

I think we don't leak anything unless we want to mislead our competition thus all this talk about Tobin might be so he goes before 8th and Okoro the guy we want drops to us.i think we don't move up any further it's all a smokescreen play now to draw off attention of Okoro our target.

I agree except Vassell is the target or whomever out of Patrick Williams, Toppin or Oneyeka drops to us.

Rumors are that the Knicks and Atlanta are talking about a trade switching the Hawks #6 pick for the Knicks #8 and #23. Reportedly Atlanta wants more which could be one of the Mavs picks. This puts a lot of guys in play.
FWIW I like Wiseman a lot but I do like Mitch more.
With the #6 pick I’m liking Tyrese, Avi and Obi.

Wow I hope you are all having a lot of fun with this. The quiet has ended and now in just two hours the crap will hit the fan. Who knows what’s really going to happen but we’ll find out soon. At least there’s something to talk about and there will be even more after the draft Is over. I do have to say that last night I watched a show on ESPN about the draft and after listening to those guys speak I sort of want to see LaMelo drafted by the Knicks. But that’s only because I watched them talk about all the different players. We have new management so maybe this year we’ll get someone good for a change.
