Can you imagine being on he precipice not in 3 but in 6 games and winning it all? A team that lost its arguably best hitter and its closer. A team that a resurrected pitcher , Vogelsong, and a decreed bust, Zito, played such a big role in those last 7 straight wins.
It was the perfect year for me as a fan....my favorite pro football team , the NY Giants wins the NFL crown; my favorite hockey team, the LA Kings wins the Stanley cup and now my favorite baseball team , the Giants wins the world series. It just needs my favorite basketball team, the Knicks to complete the foursome. Hey why not think big?

Great Series sweep for the Giants and it was amazing how it was accomplished. Winning the division easy despite the Dodgers adding about 350 million to their payroll with two big trades. First NL team ever to come back from a 2-0 deficit in the NLDS, and doing it on the road yet! Then winning their last seven games to win it all after not having a seven game winning streak all season. I waited 55 years for my first World Series championship, and now I have two in three years! It's a great feeling, and it ended just in time for me to focus my attention on the Knicks, who I expect to have a great season. Stephen A. Smith doesn't always say the right thing, but he put it well the other day when he said, "The Knicks don't have to win the championship to have a great season, but they AT LEAST have to make the Heat uncomfortable!" That says it all!

rx,
I think that it is quite cool that the year began with the Giants winning the Super Bowl and now the Giants bookend the year and are the MLB's champs.
Enjoy the glow of being the champs.

That says it all! Maybe the Giants have to rewrite that movie and call themselves the Magnificent Nine" beating all odds. Who needs Steve Wilson or Melky Cabrera or Tim Lincecum.. BTW both the Dodgers and Angels here are being roasted in the media for wasteful spending...

Gary, I just read the Dodgers are looking to unload Andre Ethier after just signing him to a new 5 yr 85 million dollar deal. I'm glad they continue to be run so incompetently since they're now spending so much money. Ned Colletti is the Isiah Thomas of MLB. As for doing it without Tim Lincecum, he actually was pretty sensational out of the bullpen.

As for doing it without Tim Lincecum, he actually was pretty sensational out of the bullpen. Sabean is getting pulled over the burning coal by many Dodger fans out here. I hadn't heard that about Ethier but it makes sense with all the money they took on. Ethier is the least consisitent of the bunch. They paid bgi bucks for an extended contract to Brandon League to be their closer...more waste IMO. They are sleo trying to get Hanley Ramirez to go to thrid where his limited range wouldnt hurt them at Shortstop. They still need 2 more starting pitchers. Timmy was great and maybe they should have given him a stint out of the bullpen earlier...it helped him to focus and the non-stretch simplified his delivery. Oh and of all things I ran into Tommy Lasorda at lunch...he's nearly blind as a bat...I wouldnt talk to him but my wife (a Dodger fan) had to talk with him... When he asked about her husband (me) she said I was a Giants fan. He said she should divorce me....I'm thnking I'll go to his place and paper his trees withj Orange and black crepe paper.LOL Gary
