The Knicks and Grizzlies are discussing a trade that would send Quentin Richardson from New York to Memphis for Darko Milicic, a person with knowledge of the situation confirmed to CBSSports.com.
It's not clear whether draft picks are involved, although the Knicks and Grizzlies also have discussed Memphis' 27th overall pick. Cash considerations would go to the Grizzlies.
Milicic would have a chance to thrive as a one-year rental in Mike D'Antoni's wide-open offensive system ... and thriving is not something Darko has done particularly well since he was infamously selected No. 2 overall by the Pistons in the 2003 draft. You know, the draft in which LeBron James went No. 1, followed by Milicic, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, and Dwyane Wade.

The NY Daily News has also confirmed that this is just about a done deal...Now, I rate this trade as Good, not "I Love it" or "Excellent". Why I do think it is a good deal is that; 1) our cap situation is not effected and we effectively obtained a center/PF for a guard. 2) Darko is a 7-footer and Q is a fat, swing man who fills no need on this Knicks team. 3) Darko is 24 years old and D'Antoni may just be the coach that gets this kid on track. We all know it sometimes takes a big guy, even one who has been messed around with by Larry Brown, some time to get his feet or mind set. 4) This may open the door for NY to expand the deal, and I am talking about snagging the #2 pick, since Donnie is not just doing this deal for Darko, IMHO...Or if he is, good riddance to Q-tip, Eddy's work-out buddy at Duffs' All Ya Can Eat all-day buffet.

Ken, I love this deal because while Darko is a limited player, he does possess a good jump shot and is a legit shot blocker. I have faith the D'Antoni can get whatever game Darko has. He immediately improves the team just because he can block shots.
