Just some observations and noodlings...
Gallinari has improved by 100% from last year. His 3 point shot in crunch time vs Charllotte was swished from 5 feet from behind the 3 point line. Afterwards he grimaced a bit likely thnking "what if I missed that!" after seeing D'Antonis face. Besides the grimace anyone notice last week after a dunk he dropped to a stooped level and spread his arms ala Shaq O'Neals gesture? I hope he doesnmt get Shaqs fat head.
Maybe Areans could have used the excuse in pulling a gun in the clubhouse on teamate Crittenton.."I was just kickin' back Old Style as the Washginton Wizards were once known as the Washington Bullets!"
No doubt D'Antoni is playing it to make the playoffs. that might mean any trade would be made to better the team than to collect dead bodies for future cap reief.
The Knicks need to sign Lee and keep the trio of Chandler, Lee and Gallinari together with 2 major FAs to be added. Letting Lee go to get a Joe Johnson is a net zero IMO, even ignoring the position difference. Here are their stats this year:
Lee 36.4mpg-18.9ppg-10.9rpg-2.9apg-57.5%shtg-77.6%FT.
Johnson 37.2mpg-21.5ppg-5.1rpg-4.9apg-45.9%shtg-84.0%FT.
Besides Duhon, playing well the Knicks still need a true backup PG.
Hill and Toney should be kept for backup ability as well as low salary contribution to the Cap.
A 40% average on 3 point shots is the same point wise as a 60% FG average. Simialrly the Knicks shoting 33.3% on 3's sounds bad but that is like shooting 50% overall. Not bad at all.
