Saw today that recently before he was waived by New Jersey that the Nets tried to acquire Nate and Darko for a swap of expirings in Rafer Alston and Toni Battie. Allegedly the Knicks vetoed that trade to not go to the Brooklyn/Newark/Nebraska Nets for player acquisitions. Why would we make the Nets better exactly?
Oh well, its that crazy time of year when inuendo and trade fodder will keep all fans dreams and minds and realgm trade checkers going until the summer of dreams this year.
Although I'd trade for Devin Harris and give anything but Gallo and Lee for him to be honest.

wouldn't be surprised to see Skip (alston) picked up by the Wizards to fill in for Gilbert "I am banned from the" Arenas..
could we use Rafer, midlevel?

The Nets tried to pull a fast one. Offer us a player they were gonna waive. Now the question is: It looks like the Heat will sign Alston and let Arroyo go. Even though Arroyo has played well, he is the only one without a guaranteed contract on the Heat. If the league grants the Knicks an exemption or exception for Mobley, we could sign Arroyo. He's not great, but he's pretty efficient and a decent facilitator. Since Bender and Landry are now signed for the rest of the year, only waiving Darko or Mobley would allow the Knicks to sign another player. Anybody for it?

If Arroyo isnt even guaranteed by The Heat to get burn , I wonder if it even matters for us to pick him up since the Heat are a top seed in the East and they need PG's. He'll probably go to Boston or Orlando again.
Arroyo coming in would mess up the flow of what we are trying to do and put Nate back in the doghouse as far as minutes are concerned so maybe I pass even I like Arroyo. We'll have a chemistry disaster since we dont even play Hughes and Douglas right now. Maybe after the season though I'd revisit that.

He's their starting point guard, since mario chalmers isn't working out! Are you paying attention? He plays every game! He's arguably better than Duhon.

Nets 3-30!! You know what makes me laugh about the Nets? Everytime a Nets' fan says that nobody on the Knicks is good enough to start on the Nets, and their horrible record is due to injuries and youth. The following players would ALL start on the Nets: Lee, Chandler, Gallinari, Harrington and Robinson. Maybe the latter two would be used off the bench to provide a spark, just like they do with the Knicks, but they're better than the players the Nets are starting. The Knicks took alot of crap last year when they passed on Brook Lopez to draft Gallinari, but even though it's obvious that Lopez is a good player, the sky's the limit with Gallinari, while Lopez will pretty much always be what he is now. I'm glad the Knicks took the shot with Gallinari and now it's looking like it's paying off.

The Nets will be good again, they have some nice pieces, Lopez and Harris are nice players. CDR was a steal. They got rid of Jefferson who was overrated for 7ftr who is young and developing. Worse case the guy will fetch something of value. They dumped the disinterested Carter for courtney lee, who looks to have potential. They will have high draft pick this year. I think this year is an anomoly and they will mediocre in no-time. Their problem is with all their capspace, who in their right mind wants to play in the swamp in front of cardboard cut-out people?

However, Lee, Gallo and Chandler would all start if you combined the two teams. The Nets biggest problem is that they are small on the perimeter and do not have any reall long range shooters. So teams just guard against penetration and double in the post. Their best shooter is probably Yi. Put Gallo on the Nets and they probably start playing .400 basketball just because he would open up the middle on offense.

Lopez, Harris, Lee, Jianlian, CDR and Terrence Williams are all talented players.
I don't know how they'll find minutes for Harris/Lee/Williams/CDR in the backcourt though. Terrence has the tools to be a 3 but doesnt play like one, Lee often plays 3 but doesnt have the size. With the #1 pick, they'll be good again like you guys said above, but no Lebron for these guys. p.s. I'd still take Thorn as a GM anyday. And Im still pissed Courtney Lee missed that layup at that buzzer in finals vs the Lakers. Have a good weekend fellas.

I'm not saying there's no talent on the Nets, just that there isn't much. Yes, Devin Harris is legit and Lopez is good, but the other young players are just bench warmers on any decent team. ALL NBA players have talent, and most of them if given 35 minutes of playing time are going to put up some numbers, but that doesn't mean they're good players. It just means they're playing with a team so putrid it's forced to give major minutes to minor performers.
