I am typing here in the dark. I finally got out, after 5 days of no power, no water, very little heat and no help. The only reason I can communicate at all, is because I managed to charge up this here laptop. After a foot and half of snow here in western North Carolina, the power went out at 3PM, Friday. By Saturday morning I and my neighbors with whom I share a driveway 1/4 mile long managed to get out and survey the scene. It looked like someone had played pick up sticks on our driveway, only the pickup sticks were 40 foot tall trees 20 inches thick. It looked like a maze to end all mazes. Emergency services wasn't answering and neither was the power company, the phones were out too. Even when using my cell. It took us 3 days to chainsaw our way out to the road down below, but the driveway is so steep, that all we could do was walk down. We finally got out today, but the power is still off. It felt so good to shower at the Y. I've got all my food outside in the snow. I'm trying to grill chicken before it goes bad. I actually spoke to the crew that is repairing the lines, and they told me that there are 5 or 6 poles down and they cannot get to them with a truck and have to do it by hand. Each pole takes 12-14 hours to set by hand, so I will probably not have power before Christmas. I see the Knicks and Giants won. I am running out of battery power, so Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all, and if you think you are having a bad Holiday Season just think of me. All I have for warmth is a wood burning stove and a Yorkie. And I slid on ice and crashed my 1994 Rodeo, that I only use for emergencies like this. Luckily it wasn't too bad just the rear quarter panel and bumper, so I can still drive it. I ran out of my anti-depression pills, but fortunately, I've got more now LOL. That is why you haven't heard from me in awhile. GTG down to 20% power.
