thanks for the clarification, saw it in the papers today.
white choco might be a handy extra player but also would be on the reclamation list we know so well.
Add Darko, and Curry to that list and maybe they should have bedded crazy marbury.

I think that the Knicks are terrorized of making any long-term deal in light of what the cap will be next year. This may be why we are seeing the resurgence of Jason Williams, Jamaal Tinsley, and even Allen Iverson, on the Knicks map.
I think Jason Williams may actually be the first Knicks signing, as this Ramon Sessions situation keeps fluctuating, and now Sessions' agent says a third "mystery" team is now interested in Ramon. If this were any other year, I think Sessions is the obvious first choice for PG. J-Dubs or Tinsley are one year, low risk scenarios, which give Toney Douglas the time to get used to the pro level.
I've never seen Toney play, but from all accounts, he looked like a floor leader in Vegas. Perhaps NY is looking twice at having to sign Sessions to a deal which must be at least two years in duration, as he is a RFA. $6 million (an approximation of what Sessions will cost in the FA summer of 2010) could mean the difference between one or two elite free agents?

I don't want JWill. I am perfectly happy to have Duhon start and Douglas develop as the backup. With those two, we will at least have two players at PG who are pass first guys who put in the effort on defense. glazer i look at at it like this: he's a used car that is being stripped for parts. whatever value he has will be on the mentoring side of things-- can we expect williams to be able to impart his own insights over and above being a productive player at 12 minutes a night?. i trust that walsh and d'antoni would be interested in that aspect of things since he had some marketable talent and skill. whatever minutes he can give would be useful in helping keep both duhon and douglas fresh. if he comes in and outperforms one or both then it is gravy. one year at 2.5--3 million would be a decent experiment.

Dk or anyone,
If it were a choice of a one year rental between Jason Williams or Jamaal Tinsely, who would you pick for the Knicks?
For me, I think both of these players bring experience, but Jason brings NBA title experience, although I am unsure as which player is a better floor-leader.
If either one comes in, and I think Tinsley is out of the Knicks radar, they will be playing in a reserve role, at least at the start of the season.
I'm not giving up on NY trying to acquire Ramon Sessions, who would be brought in as a starter and, to me, Ramon represents a bright future. Here is a super athletic PG who by all rights, should have been a starter last year. IMHO, the Knicks are still very much into this player and Sessions would be signed if not for the cap considerations of next year.
I just think any Sessions deal will be a sign and trade for I see David Lee being offered the full MLE, either for one year or for multiple years. And, sadly for my buddy Rene, I see Nate Robinson being a crucial piece of this acquisition. My only hope is that Milwaukee's GM and Walsh's discussion about a sign and trade, focused on another Knicks player, maybe Duhon. Chris' expiring contract for Sessions makes a lot of sense for a Bucks team that has just about reached the luxury tax threshold, and the Bucks cannot rely on Luke Ridnour and Jennings for the entire season.
If Duhon is traded for Sessions, then NY can sign Jason Williams as that third PG who could truly step up and mentor Toney Douglas. Plus this trio is a huge upgrade over what we had last year.
If NY simply signs J-Dubs, keeps Duhon, and the rookie learns by experience, I have to admit I am not that comfortable with the following year's PG line-up, which is basically Toney Douglas, and that's it.
BTW, not one word of the Knicks in the Post, Newsday, The Daily News. I haven't checked the Times, but they write their Sports Section on Friday for the weekend edition...

ken i have no desire to bring in a player such as tinsley, who was to his former team what marbury was to the knicks. players who do not believe that guaranteed money means you must pay it forward are low character guys, and i don't care about the counter- arguments of "it's a business" and "it is what it is." character means something in any profession. if we must have another point guard beyond duhon and douglas (and i don't agree that we do) then i'd rather have a guy who is hungry and wants to earn his money given the opportunity.

I agree with you, my friend. I think Walsh and Mike D met with Jamaal as a courtesy but the last thing D'Antoni needs or wants is another head case. Donnie may have acquired him but I doubt Walsh wanted some bar brawling thug who simply was adverse to physical conditioning his entire career, and despite his skills, never had his act together to really be the kind of player he was projected to be. Like you, players who want to fight for their position on the team, show the coach that extra special something, and have that fire and passion, are those who make the game so much better. In a way knowing you are going to get paid no matter what you do, including eating yourself out of a job, takes away so much of what the sport means to me. I hate player option contracts and I hope that this is something that eventually gets eliminated in the NBA. Look at what this type of payment plan has done to the Knicks. In fact, the future is currently jeopardized by this fat load of lard who is due $22,000,000, no matter what.
