I admit it. I thought the Knicks were going to get creamed so I quit watching in the first half and since we had company and a large supply of wine I didn't even bother to check back.
Till after the game.
Yea, I was a bit shocked we won the damn thing especially after the stretches of horrid ball I did see live so I turned on my tape of the game and watched. I'm not going to make many specific comments as it is late and I did have some wine but major kudos to all! I thought this was a playoff game the way the Knicks played!! Major props to a winded and out of shape Mitchell Robinson who finally made it back to playing. I have some concerns about our guard play on defense. Dinwiddie may be a tool but he's good. Raul Neto and and Aaron Holiday combined for 39 points. That is pretty bad defense because neither guy should strike fear into our hearts.
Getting Mitch back was great. Defense in the 4th quarter and big, big plays by Rose, Randle (except for the two missed free throws), RJ, Obi and the rook Quentin Grimes propelled us to the win capped by Randle's game winning 18 foot jumper.
The guard defense and still no Nerlens is concerning but when you can score 115 points on a BAD night, go 4-0 in the pre-season and look mostly pretty damn smooth even with new players and average 116 PPG while holding opponents to 104 PPG all is pretty good. It gets real on Wednesday against the Celtics. I can't wait!!

I have mixed emotions about the preseason success, because Thibs never lets up and plays every game like it’s a playoff game, so I don’t put much stock in these victories. If the Wizards keep their regulars in like the Knicks did, I doubt the Knicks pull that game out. Interesting comments by Thibs after the game though about how the Knicks have a long way to go with the first unit because of the changes, while the second unit is far more cohesive and effective since they were all together last year. I think early you’ll see a lot more Rose and Burks at the expense of Kemba and Fournier down the stretch of close games. Really looking forward to Wednesday too, and excited for the great season to come.
