Never heard of him of course, but he looks to have size and excellent shooting ability and can play defense. Definitely a Thibs type player. Of course Brooklyn gets Cam Thomas. Of freaking course!

He was the guy that really killed it at combine he was the best player on floor there,that move him up I suspect I wanted him at 32,he is huge and a great great shooter plus he has defense as his calling card beside shooting reminds me of a better shooting Bullock cause he doesn't drive much but man can he shoot lights out from three and play that dee.

Personally, I like this pick. He is a good shooter who has really improved his game over the years. He is a good defender and should be a really nice 3 and D player. Honestly, at 25, a solid role payer is what you hope for.

Apparently RJ Barrett is so young that he was in the same high school class as Grimes, and they played with and against each other before. Pretty cool.
Also Grines reminds me of a young Shane Battier/Bruce Bowen type.

I like grimes and have followed him since his first game as a Jayhawk his Freshman year. I kinda had my eye on him the whole time as I kept checking best available.
At 19 we just missed Mann and the UVA kid back to back!
I know DA warned against JJ from Duke but if we were going to be an uptempo team we should have taken him. Especially since ATL who just trounced us had the next pick.
I guess Thibs has no interest in playing uptempo fast break ball even though we have the personnel for that. I was excited about the Johnson pick too- an incredible athlete.
I guess we have to hang ours hats on the second rounders- all good ones- save the cap money and look forward to big free agency splash?

This was brilliant masterpiece to handle draft and contracts and cap and future assets A+ across the board plus we got two of three guys I wanted Grimes I wanted 32 and Deuce I wanted 21 so I'm estatic happy with defense and shooting we got simply brilliant we have more cap space now a nice two contracts with 2nd round cap hit brilliant.We now have 50 million to spend too plus 6 1st in next four years and nine two in next four years.Ready to deal for a star,plus don't sleep on stash guy we have good scouts now in that area.

Jason I can’t put my finger on it I don’t see a Bowen or battier in Grimes but that would be great defensively. 3 and D guys that come to mind with similar builds young are Aaron McKie, Eddie Jones, even a healthy QRich or most recently Dameayan Dotson. I don’t know I’m going to think more about this one comparison wise.

I don’t know I’m going to think more about this one comparison wise. Neil Fair enough. I should've elaborated. Battier and his mechanics on his jumper reminded me of the videos I saw of Grimes. Bowen and Battier were pests on defense and you hated them on other teams but would love them on your own team. That's how I saw it anyway when I caught the video. Not saying that he is them because the both of those men contributed to championship teams but I think he has the instincts like them. Truthfully I hope Grimes is nothing like Aaron Mckie and Eddie Jones because they had forgettable careers. |
