As usual Gates said what I was about to say only better. Sexton would be a restricted FA after next year and the Knicks would be able to match any offer. If someone offers him the amount Jason mentioned that would mean he had one fantastic year, wouldn’t it? Just saw Ian Begley and he said the Knicks interest is real, but the a trade like this would probably happen around draft night and a lot can happen between now and then. He did make it sound like they’re not interested in Lonzo Ball however.

BTW you and Bill seem to be driving the Sexton train. I'm just a passenger taking in the sights admiring your good work.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ob4BlddgvYWe might be able to get Miles McBride with our 32th pick from Detroit. He reminds me of Van Fleet and it's no supprise Toronto is trying to trade up with their two seconds because they think the same way.I love his dee and shooting and everything but what makes him special is his extremely low TO rate is is quite efficient.Which means in my eyes a very high IQ guy,and he would make Tre drool while looking at his hair that he wishes he had LOL.He also ate Cad lunch when they played. www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bJi0G9oAjE

Hey fellows I'm thinking about this Sexton situation and if I'm the Knicks I hang strong and try to pry him without giving up too much we are in driver's seat,I'd just assume sign Lowry for 20 per for two years and roll with that.I know it's not long term but things might get better in that market in two years.I just want a good deal Obi is a keeper he's our guy too early to give up on him.His value is too low now we should be able to trade him straight up for him if his value was higher. We might want to keep him forever too if he turns into a young Stat 2.0+ with downtown range.I like Obi and I didn't want him in draft cause of defense but he has improved alot there so I like that shows the kid is improving alot and with a camp and summer league we might show to have a special guy as we know some guys take time.I really do want to keep all our picks and build through the draft and scouting, let's earn our stars by being a better scouting department.I would explore a Knox trade to move a pick up a few spots to lock a guy we like that drops a bit.Throw in a couple of 2023 two's since we have a billion of those.

Some great points by all. Rene's point about 2 years of Lowry is a good one but the whole point here is the market will ultimately decide Sexton's worth. I like that a lot! This may be a case of just trusting the process as long as the process doesn't include Dennis Schroder.

Sure Lowry is better than Sexton (or Schroeder) but I think I prefer another young piece that fits the team timeline. Now Schroeder is good and possibly better than Sexton today. But by August 14 or November 9 or January 5, I'd probably prefer Sexton.

It's just weird that Cleveland is all too willing to trade and yet Knicks fans are acting like he's a great consolation for Lillard or something. Meanwhile outside of the Lebron years this team has been worse than us. I'd accept him and I don't dislike him but the guise of acquiring a player so Thibs can SHOW HIM defense is even more bizarre. Sorry Gates this wasn't to you specifically just my thoughts on acquiring a player from a losing team and expecting us to get past Atlanta.

Cleveland is faced with a choice of Garland or Sexton because it appears that they cannot be a successful backcourt together defensively. Sexton is a better scorer while Garland is the better pure passer. Sexton also appears to have more value. So, trade Sexton and get pieces back to set up the future. IMHO, Sexton would be a great fit for what Thibs likes to do on offense. As long as we keep RJ, Randle and Mitch, I like our future.

You certainly have to worry about bringing in a big stats guy from a losing franchise. I could recite multiple occassions when it doesn't work out ( cough cough Tony Campbell) But it worked with Randle and WE were certainly correct desiring Devin Booker. Now I am beyond washed but I made a list evaluating the much maligned Payton. After extensive research I'd say this is my evaluation of current ability as of 7/15/2021
1) Derrick Rose 2) You Jason 3) Elfrid Payton 4) 92 year old Bob Cousy 5) Frank Ntilikina

The whole big stats losing franchise thing doesn’t worry me because he’s just 22 years old. Are we really going to label him a career loser at his age? He’s going to get so much better too. And Gates pointed out a few of the reasons why Cleveland would let him go without us worrying that he’s a bad player. I think he’s the best option out there and the price is reasonable. The superstars will cost us RJ and multiple number ones. I’m fine with them signing Lowry, but we’ll just be in the same spot in two years or less if he declines rapidly. Not to mention the fact that Leon Rose and crew has tread carefully in all his deals, and at this point I have complete faith in them.

🤣🤣🤣 Your disdain for Frank rivals my disdain for Payton and I love it.

I hate myself sometimes for hating Frank and wanting him off the team, because he seems like such a great guy and even useful because of his defensive skills and occasional three point hot streaks. The problem is however our fellow Knicks fans who seem to think he’s some kind of superstar and only Knicks coaches and management don’t know this. I thought reality would finally hit because this year we had the NBA coach of the year and he’s the most defensive minded coach in the game , and it still took twelve injuries and six positive Covid tests for him to put Frank in the game. Yet they still remain loyal. It really is unconditional love and I think for most of these fans if they were at the edge of a cliff and Frank and their kid were dangling off the side, they’d definitely reach for Frank!

Sorry to interrupt all this trade speculation. But there are a couple of players I don't want to see included in a trade. The first is Obi Toppin. Sorry but he began showing some serious potential near the end of the season. I don't want to give away a good player to another team. Not one who may have his best years ahead of him. The second player I won't trade is R.J. Barrett. I want to see the third year player that Barrett might be. Again, why should another team benefit from getting a star sitting on the cusp of blossoming. All of these potential trades are just speculation so that reporters will have enough bullshit to fill up their columns. Trade our crappy draft picks if we must. See what we can get.

Twelve injuries and 6 positive covid tests !!! That is HOF classic. I MIGHT save Frank if Duck Hodges was the other option. Maybe people view themselves as Frank. Identify wiith being a good teammate, hardworking try hard on defense (NO "O" ). Delusionally see themselves as good looking. I dont know. I personally see myself as a combination of JR Smith (semi clueless who will launch from all angles) and Derek Fisher (overrated player that rode other coattails , sucks as a coach, and will steal your woman.)
