Gates, I think I’ve been burned by too many bad Knicks draft decisions in the past. So while you make an excellent point, my mind is saying we trade the two picks and move up and wind up drafting the next Nlitikina or Knox, while the next Mitchell, SGA or Porter go to the team we swapped with at 19 and 21. No way I can dispute that. You watch SGA, both Bridges and Porter and say huh we took Knox😏 . Since I have only seen about 5 players and 3 if em I don't want, (and the other 2 we have no chance at getting) I am clueless. That is why I read mocks and come here. Not for the projected draft picks but for jnsights into the various prospects.

I can't see the Knicks taking 2 guys in the first round but no matter what they do it's a lock they need to draft before #19 to get Trey Murphy. I have seen mock drafts where guys like Zaire Williams or Kai Jones fall to the Knicks but I also look at a lot of mock drafts from different sources and Trey Murphy is trending up. I see 7-8 guys who are top 10 locks and after that it's anybody's guess who gets who. I tend to agree with Mark that if the Knicks keep their picks they will get good players but if they want Murphy I think they need to be in the 8-13 range. I think Garuba is reasonable for #19 and I would be happy with him as he is more NBA ready than most guys we could draft. I like Zaire Williams too and Jones is a long athletic freak. But like Garuba I think Murphy is more NBA ready than a lot of his fellow draftees and it's important that the Knicks draft a guy who is a rotational fit now.
BTW if Dave chases us off over a Dookie we best listen to him. Bill, you know my loyalty is to the Knicks once they become pros.
There is not a single Duke player from this draft class that I want to use a pick on. Johnson is not a winner, DJ Steward is not talented enough and Matthew Hurt is a late 2nd round talent. I would not mind Hurt as an undrafted free agent as he will have a Steve Novak career, but he is not a 1st round pick. He had trouble guarding people in college. I shudder to think what he will be like in the NBA. OTOH, he is a GREAT shooter.

Wow I've never heard you have multiple thumbs down on any FULL Duke draft class before.

Looks like Irish is correct and more thorough than I am in evaluating the draft, because there are rumors that Murphy won’t get past the Warriors at 14. There’s also a rumor the Knicks offered both picks to the Warriors for the 14th pick and were turned down, which is not surprising because their vets are putting heavy pressure on them to win now, so they’d trade the picks for a star before they’d consider moving down. From the Knicks point of view, Murphy is very intriguing but his numbers are very curious and I wonder if anyone here has watched their games. His shooting percentages are fantastic, 50% overall, 43% from three, and almost 93% from the foul line. Yet he only averaged 11 ppg, down from 13 the previous season. Is it because he’s a selfless player? No, because he only averaged one assist a game. He’s also supposed to be a poor rebounder for his size. What’s with the low scoring average though? Was his point guard Alonzo Trier? Speaking of which, the Knicks privately met with Cam Thomas yesterday for the second time and Thibs told him he’s a perfect fit for their offense. He’s a point machine and averaged 23 PPG this year and there’s a rumor he has a guarantee from the Knicks if he’s there at 19. I’ve heard the Buddy Hield comparison, but he’s a bit of a black hole on offense because he never passes, so should I bring up Alonzo Trier’s name again? I’d love to get both of these kids, but it seems like that won’t be happening, especially Murphy.

I hope we stay at 19 and 21 because this draft is deep and those picks are as good as picks in teens if used right. I agree with rumors now that Murphy and Duarte will go before us that's fine with me I'd rather have Mann drop to us Jackson or Zaire those are the guys I like maybe Cooper but I'm leaning towards the others ,Dave Jalen might be a loser for the Dukies but it remains to be see if his future is going to be that way .That is a huge question for him and reason he is dropping because others think like you but the talent is there is the mindset ?

I hearing Thibs Loves McBride,Deuce is a great choice he is slotted late in first but is a solid all round point guard to me the best point available are Mann,Deuce and Cooper with Deuce being the best defender by far that's' why Thibs loves him and so do I he won't last to 32. www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9K_9SQfZ0MClyde would love him becuase he plays dee with his feet something Clyde preaches,he is smart too scouts guys knows their moves that's part of good dee prep is key. Unlike other guards in this draft he has a very low turnover rate I love that stat. Shot 41.4 % from three point range

Anyone else have that nervous energy of today, like it could either be surprisingly good, or surprisingly like why the hell did we do that type of deal night in the draft later?
Or is it just me?

So far our management team has passed most of their tests with flying colors but today is the certification exam. What gets me so nervous is the rumors are all over the place. We are standing pat in the draft. We are moving up. We are trying to move up but no takers. We are looking at this trade. Or another trade. We like this free agent. Or another free agent. Or no free agent at all.
I don't really pay attention to the rumors mainly because Leon Rose holds everything close to the vest so you have no idea of what he is thinking or planning. Which is good. I trust this guy. I trust he is doing his homework and he has a plan. I just want to know what the plan might be.
Regarding the draft there are players I want and others I would certainly welcome even if they are not high on my personal draft board. The Mocks are all over the place. ESPN has us taking Texas big Kai Jones and VCU PG Bones Hyland. Neither pick, if we keep both picks, is a bad one especially Jones. Thibs is said to love WVU PG Miles McBride while other mocks have the Knicks selecting Stanford SF Zaire Williams, Kentucky big Isiah Jackson and LSU SG Cam Thomas. I hear there is interest in Gonzaga SF Corey Kispert too along with Duarte and Baylor PG Davion Mitchell.
The answers to all these questions are forthcoming but nowhere near soon enough.

I agree that Leon Rose says nothing to anybody about his plans, but I do believe the rumors because while he doesn’t talk, the people he calls do! And it’s definitely to the benefit of the teams he calls to let other teams and big media people know of the Knicks interest in either their players or their picks. If somebody calls the Warriors for pick 14 for example, it helps their bargaining position to tell them they’ve already turned down 19 and 21. And looking at last year’s DRose deal, if Leon says nothing how did we know for a two weeks before he wanted him? That’s why I believe a lot of what I hear. Of course it has to be someone with a proven track record like Ian and not someone on Twitter with 27 followers and a twitter egg as his avatar. If I were to predict based on rumors, I would think the Knicks will move up by packing 19,21 and 32. And I think they want Murphy but will be forced to settle for Duarte. Bouknight I think is their ultimate goal but I don’t think they’ll get high enough for Murphy, let alone Bouknight. Of course Leon is working on trading for established talent as well, and if a player he likes is available he’s got plenty of cap space to make that deal.

I have nervous energy. Big time as nba draft day and nfl draft days are a holiday to me. But I trust whatever they do. They did fine last year. Of course if they trade for a veteran, THEN, I'll have an opinion.
