I guess Cade is Detroit bound as they got first pick. Wonder if Killian Hayes is now available. Or maybe the way the Pistons are run they just pass on Cade and max out Dennis Smith Jr. If you want to know who the Knicks are picking, you don’t even have to speculate or list your own personal preferences, you just look at who’s coming out of Kentucky. First pick BJ Boston, second first round pick Isiah Jackson. Last year if you had told me the Knicks would have the fourth seed and still be able to draft BJ Boston I would have been ecstatic as he was projected as one of the top freshman, but he had a disappointing season. I expect him to fall to them. Of course don’t be surprised if those picks get moved for a star. I wouldn’t have minded Kemba, especially with the number one added to the deal, but let’s see what Rose has in mind.

Isiah Jackson is a baller would not mind picking him to backup Mitch. My dream prospect project if we want to go project which means like RJ it's going to take about three years is Scottie Barnes. He is only 19 years all and just tested as the most athletic guy on combine's database since 2000.He seems to me he could turn into a Magic point at 6-8 he can do it all.His defense is amazing like his floor is Iggy on defense but he has IMO huge upside. Now if we trade up to eight is going to be interesting who slips to us there what we do.

Did anybody stop to think in a normal year the draft would be done and free agency would be in full swing with most of the big signings done already? Oh what a difference a pandemic makes!
In looking at some of the mock drafts my two main sources, ESPN and NBADraft.net, predict vastly different players for the Knicks. ESPN has NY selecting Rene's guy PG Sharife Cooper at #19 and SF Trey Murphy III from Virginia with the 21st pick. NBADraft.net has the Knicks taking VCU combo guard Nah'Son Hyland and LSU SG Cameron Thomas.
Except for Cooper all these guys can shoot the trey but none is considered an athlete. No mock I can find lists Murphy at all while ESPN has him going in the first round? Interesting. Murphy is a 6'9 wing player who had a sudden growth burst that took him from 6'4 to 6'9. He has guard skills and can really shoot the ball. Overall he is a very interesting candidate. I'm still hoping the Knicks package these picks to move up to the draft lottery.
A guy whose name never gets mentioned is Iowa's Luke Garza. He was the Naismith winner for POY and he's a unique big in the right situation. Athletically he is slow but the NBA has other slow bigs who have been productive like Brook Lopez last night against the Hawks in a pivotal playoff game. Garza has great range, post moves, excellent feet and glue like hands and he is strong. Very strong. He's also a bit of a defensive liability because he is slow. The one comparison I saw was Enes Kanter without the politics. If the Knicks don't sign Nerlens Noel this summer maybe they consider Garza with their 58th pick. He is certainly worth a look see as one of the most productive college bigs since Shaq.

Garza is interesting but man is he slow. On a switch Rank Ntilikina would blow by him and ol Stank would have taken 2 seconds to figure out when to go then drive at the speed of a slower Boban.

I dont think he is demonstrably slower than you. But he cant jump like either twin. He has lost 20 lbs and that may well help. What I saw was a big guy (Garza) that can shoot and bang. But what i also just saw was Phoenix put DeMarcus Cousins in EVERY pick and roll and run him out the game even though Cousins was very effective at the offensive end. Sure 2nd round pick is fine but his lateral is incredibly problematic.

I'm starting to fall in love with your homeboy Bill your gator and he played for Buffalo as a high schooler so I'm thinking he might go before us now.The only knock is strength and defense but he is legit 6-5 so I think Thibs can work on him for dee and he can get on a weight program like Mitch is now LOL.I know this is far fetch but Tre Mann reminds me of Lillard coming out.He has deep range and he gets in the lane and he dishes what's not to like. Some teams are looking at him in teens so getting at 19th might be a good bet for us.He has no flaws on offense much like Lillard coming out.Davion Mitchell is a killer point defender for us trading up ,I am worried about his size and wingspan finishing in the lane in the NBA,his signiture move won't work in the NBA does he have others he doesn't use them he just blows by people but length in the NBA might hurt him that scares me but his point guard defense is to dream for.I scouted Murphy and his shot is great and length but he has alot of bad tape too, scary me abit.Everyone has flaws it's just finding the flaws that can be fixed is the key.I'm leaning towards Tre Mann and Bones and I do like Cooper alot his family is all hoops so I can see Cooper being like RJ which improves every year with hard work and with Cooper like RJ you have some talent to work with.Cooper has already improved his shots during workouts..He shot over 80% from the line so his shot is money it was mechanics he was lifting his head when he shot and he corrected that after the year already.

empiresportsmedia.com/new-york-knicks/lottery-bound-i-7-lottery-teams-eye-auburn-star-i-bruce-pearl-to-nba-teams-sharife-cooper-is-a-once-every-10-year-point-guard/Some insight on Cooper the natural,I really love the kid for us.Garza can hits the downtown shot would be a great pickup to spread the floor with our second second.Knicks usually draft the guys they workout, they haven't workout Cooper yet unless them witnessing his workout at combine counts.here is the list of guys the Knicks have interview so far remeber they usually draft a guy they workout never happen when they didn't. Boughtnight,Barnes,Butler,Murphy,Jalen Johnson,Zaire Williams,Jared sSpringer,Josh Primo a baby at 18years old love the kid 6-6,Garza only center,McBride and Bones. Two guys we like are not here Cooper and Mann but it's early and three more weeks.I studied this list and found guys I love like Butler,Bones andBarnes,Boughnight but what I found interesting the only center was Garza.I love they interviewed Barnes my man we have no shot at but love it anyway. Also Boughnight since we have to trade up for,so possble trade draft day ,I say stay pat we have nice guys and I'm loving Cooper too much now maybe others do too and we miss out on him ,Mann might go before us too.If Primo ops into the draft maybe some team gave him a hint because I don't expect a talent like him to drop to second,Primo is a 18 year old baby, but he has everything the whole package at 6-6 with sick wingspan,he might be great in thee years I would love to stash his young talent,he reminds me of Pippen without the attitude lol.He might of gotten a promise froma a late first team so we might not get him at 32.Ideal situation we get Cooper,Mann,Primo and Garza.Or Murphy in there,They also workout I forgot The domican kid he is lightout shooter better than Krispert,Duarte,I don't like it when he gets double he throws ball away maybe that got better I didn't watch him that much but IQ I worry about with Duarte and Murphy. This post shows that Cooper is a student of the game, love that, his dad is huge inspiration for the kid like RJ I can see huge growth in his game year after year with hard work.

Bill I read an article on Cooper that he wasn't allowed to play because his dad became a agent and theier was a snag but he stayed positive with team and couldn't even workout with them eventually he got cleared and they put him in at half of a game they were behind to Alabama he came in the second half after not working with team and scored 26 had 8 assists some steals and won the game. This can can play day one IMO.

Some interesting pre-draft facts.
NBADraft.net has the Knicks taking SF Trey Murphy from Virginia and SF/SG Josh Christopher with their first round picks. With their second round picks it's Western Kentucky's C/PF Charles Bassy and Utah State center Neemias Queta.
ESPN has the Knicks taking PG Sharife Cooper from Auburn, Trey Murphy and Illinois SG Ayo Dsunmo and Texas big Jericho Sims.
CBS Sports has the Knicks taking Baylor Guard Jared Butler and Spanish big Usman Garuba. No second round mock but a newer CBS mock had the Knicks taking Trey Murphy and Kentucky big Isiah Jackson.
NBA Draft Room has the Knicks taking Oregon SG Chris Duarte and PG Sharife Cooper in the first round. In the second round it's North Carolina center Day-Ron Sharpe and Serbian center Filip Petrusev.
Kevin O'Conner's mock draft has UConn SG James Bouknight slipping to the Knicks at #19 which I see as an impossibility and LSU SG Cameron Thomas at #21.
Last up is Tankathon who has the Knicks taking Stanford SF Zaire Williams and PG Sharife Cooper and SG Josh Christopher and Virginia PF/C Jay Huff in the second round.
Sleepers include Tre Mann, Joe Wiesenkamp, Scottie Lewis, Alperin Sengun, and Greg Brown.
Jericho Sims is one the trio of Texas bigs who are all athletic freaks. Kai Jones is likely gone by the time we pick but in the second round, Sims, who just hit his head on the rim during a dunk, and the talented Brown are available. Guys like SG's Christopher, Duarte, and Thomas all seem like the same guy though right now I favor the more athletic and NBA ready Christopher. Weisenkamp is a Joe Harris/Duncan Robinson type player. Shockingly athletic with a 42" vertical and a second place finish in the agility drills to Scottie Lewis he also shot 44% from beyond the arc for an Iowa team that featured Naismith POY Luke Garza. Lewis won't get drafted but think of a way more athletic defender than Frank with much higher offensive upside. He's worth a camp invite.
I want a big in this draft and there are many potential picks. Usman Garuba gets a lot of Draymond Green comparisons. I like Sims and Bassey too. Right now the consensus first round picks are Trey Murphy an athletic 6'7 marksman who can play SG or SF and PG Sharife Cooper who is one of Rene's guys. I reserve judgement till the individual workouts are done next week but there is lots of star talent in the first 4 picks and value throughout.

We have to stay away from Chris Duarte. He is 24 years old. I don't know his whole story, and I'm sure he's a great guy but that is waaaaay to old for a college drafted player.
I almost did a double take when I saw his age. Maybe only with one of the 2nd rounders would I take him.

There is value in this draft so I hope the Knicks pick wisely or even better trade up. I'm really enamored of Rene's guy Forward Scottie Barnes from FSU. He can play both forward positions. He's long at 6'9 and with a 7'2 wingspan. Strong at 230 lbs. and uber athletic. He is known for defense and his ability to create plays for himself and teammates off the dribble. The only knock is offense and frankly he just needs to take more shots. His jumper looks extremely good and with his handle shooting off the bounce should be a strength. Moving up to get Barnes makes Obi expendable. For Sexton.

I mentioned that about Duarte in our Facebook group, so needless to say I agree. I believe it’s because he’s from the Dominican Republic and like most of the kids there he grew up playing baseball and didn’t pick up a basketball until he was older. I’d much rather a 19-20 year old kid with similar skills who by the time he’s 24 will be a much better player than Duarte. Now if his age forces him to slip into the second round I wouldn’t have a problem with the Knicks grabbing him there.
