The longtime radio announcer of the Utah Jazz gave a really insightful reason of why Heyward may strongly consider NY over Indiana. Thoughts??:

That logic makes perfect sense. Heyward wants to prove that he is an all-star talent which means he needs a team where he is either the first or second option. There is no doubt that we can offer that here.

We’ll see what happens, but I guess as a Knicks fan, we’re used to getting spurned. Another connection to the Knicks was hiring the highly regarded Walt Perrin away from Hayward’s first team. I guess we’ll find out soon.

If healthy he's a perfect fit for us.

Or, he has a cajillion dollars banked and just wants to go home to Indiana where he grew up and took Butler to 2 final fours. No media, no pressure, family.

I just got home, I must have some good company then. I hope you’re right, i think he’s solid. I spoke to my dialed NBA friends in Utah and they told me he left for the money and to be East Coast near home. He’s also 30 off and injury and not 25 anymore. At 30 maybe he’s like screw it, I’m rich, let’s play near home. Pacers have been a way better organization than NY.

Knicks are using a weird strategy here, doomed to failure. They’re not his first choice, yet to entice him they’re offering LESS money? Makes no sense at all. You either offer more and if you don’t think he’s worth it you move on.

And if indy refuses Ainge's ripoff request, then you are at front of line.

You either offer more and if you don’t think he’s worth it you move on. How are they doomed to failure? They are not some nickel and dime Steve Mills run operation anymore. We have two former agents in the front office. While its disappointing that Heyward and FVV seem to consider other options, the Knicks are not some cheap trick anymore that gets googly eyed and outside themselves anymore. Or else we would've given Morris that contract he got from the Clips. Or we would've given Gallo and Bertans their overblown contracts.

You either offer more and if you don’t think he’s worth it you move on. Have you ever been in a negotiation? Has Hayward walked away yet? He made his money with the Celtics. He's earned 118 million dollars as a basketball player. That's generational wealth. He's 30 and is likely pursuing a legacy. Winning in New York is different. So that's leverage for Rose. Luckily, Rose has more than enough money to offer, ultimately. Not every player pursues the most money he can get for its own sake, (hardship notwithstanding)-- like Carmelo Anthony did. That cynical approach ultimately detracts from his NBA career, what with zero NBA titles and only 1 conference finals to his legacy. He ended up being unwanted and missed an entire season. Connect the dots. He ate some humble pie ultimately.

Gates i know but that deal the celtics are asking too much in sign and trade so NY might be his best option,he can explore going back after he mentors RJ for a year or two.

Hayward playmaking SF, positive DRPM. he should be the point forward on this team Toppin PF 4 year player, 22 year old-- he should fit in right away, and i've heard he was considered by many the best player in college Mitch defending the lane, help defense positive floor impact on both ends RJ Barrett SG he's had plenty of time to work on developing his body, improving his shot Frank PG positive DRPM and with this lineup he can be more of a ball mover, hockey assist guy. his usg:ast ratio is .76, midway between a PG and a SG That lineup is not nothing.
